Dr Rotimi Mathew


Dr. Rotimi Mathew, Fpmc, FAPMCN, is the Director-General of the Chartered Institute of Mentoring and Coaching Nigeria (CIMCN) and Founder of the Institute of Mentoring and Career Coaching Nigeria (IMCCN). Through these institutions, he has championed the institutionalization of mentoring and coaching as strategic tools for leadership development, human capital advancement, and national transformation. He is also the Founding President of the Association of Professional Mentors and Coaches of Nigeria (APMCN), Founder of the African Mentorship College of Leadership and Business Development, Co-Founder of the Institute of Africa Life Coaches and Mentors (IALCM), Executive Director of Insight for Transformation and Development Initiative (ITDI), Convener of the Accelerated Mentoring Lab, and a Partner at Coaching Clinic. His contributions reflect a strong understanding of the role mentoring, leadership, strategy, and coaching play in today’s technology-driven world.

A multi-disciplinary consultant, professional mentor, ethical leadership coach, and human resource expert, Dr. Mathew has delivered over 100,000 contact hours of training to more than 150,000 individuals and teams across different sectors. With over three decades of experience in mentoring, coaching, facilitation, lecturing, strategy, lobbying, business consulting, and voluntary service, he has become one of Africa’s respected voices in professional mentoring and leadership development. His international exposure and dynamic communication style have distinguished him as a transformational speaker and facilitator known for delivering practical results.

His career includes service as Head of Finance and Accountant in the FMCG sector, alongside extensive engagements as a training consultant to private organizations and government agencies at federal, state, and local government levels. He has served as a keynote speaker and mentoring expert on consultancy projects funded by the World Bank and the European Union in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Dr. Mathew was the Lead Mentoring Consultant for the Federal Ministry of Finance/YOUWIN Programme, where he coordinated the training of mentors across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to support entrepreneurship development and job creation. He also facilitated the Federal Civil Service Mentoring, Leadership, Management, and Succession Planning Policy, Nigeria Army and has consulted for organizations including the Nigeria Immigration Service, KRPC Ltd., Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE), PENGASSAN, NUPENG, COWA, and several State Governments.

He has been recognized for mentoring initiatives on entrepreneurship, money management, leadership, and self-esteem for over 861 youths under a World Bank/EU-supported public works programme. He also served as a guest resource person at Lagos Business School and as Sole Partner on the Nigerian Medical Students’ National Mentoring Programme.

An expert in mentoring systems and business development, Dr. Mathew has contributed to initiatives supporting women scientists in building sustainable and culturally responsive research careers across Nigeria. He is the creator of the E5 Concept, a transformational framework for personal development and leadership effectiveness, and has led the development of mentoring toolkits for institutional mentoring programmes.

A prolific author and speaker, his publications include Reimagining Mentoring: A Path to National Transformation, Lobbying, Dare to Be a Mentor, Analysis of Political Mentorship, Mentoring Signature: My Coaching Niche, Vision is a Living Thing, and Mentoring Essentials, among others. He serves on the boards of several institutions and is widely recognized as one of Nigeria’s foremost authorities on professional mentoring, coaching, and training facilitation.

Dr. Rotimi Mathew holds a Ph.D. in Public Governance and Leadership, a Ph.D. in Public Administration, and a Doctorate in Coaching and Mentoring. He is a Fellow of over seventeen professional bodies locally and internationally and has received numerous awards for his contributions to mentoring, leadership development, coaching, governance, and human capital advancement.
